What happened: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman posted a cryptic photo of strawberries on social media, believed to be a tease for a secretive AI technology called "Project Strawberry" (formerly known as Q*).

According to reports and leaked documents, ‘Project Strawberry’ is potentially:

  1. An AI model with advanced reasoning capabilities

  2. Capable of navigating the internet autonomously for "deep research"

  3. A step closer to artificial general intelligence (AGI)

  4. Able to execute more complex tasks beyond step-by-step user prompts

However, details about the project remain largely unknown, including plans and timeline for its release.

But I bet you once it is officially released, it will be as sweet as a jam. 🍓

💡 The rumors have intensified further following the appearance of a new, unknown AI model in the LMSYS Chatbot Arena. 👀

What happened: Figure AI, a $2.6 billion robotics startup backed by Jeff Bezos, Nvidia, Microsoft, and OpenAI, has released Figure 02, which they claim is the most advanced humanoid robot currently on the market.

The humanoid robot was successfully tested at BMW's Spartanburg plant for sheet metal placement.

What makes Figure 02 special:

  • A human-like form (5'6" tall, 154 pounds), with human-scale hands and strength.

  • It can lift up to 55 pounds, coordinate both hands, and place parts accurately.

  • Walks on two legs and has AI-driven sight with six sensors.

  • Enhanced voice communication abilities.

  • Can perform complex tasks fully autonomously.

  • Capable of 5 hours of work on one electric charge, 50% more than its predecessor.

Will it learn how to drive a BMW car soon? Insane.

💡 As companies like Figure AI continue to advance humanoid robot technology, it's likely to spark ongoing debates about the future of work, human-robot interaction, and the ethical implications of increasingly capable AI systems in various industries.

What happened: ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has launched a new app called "Jimeng AI" in China. This app allows users to create short videos and images based on text prompts using AI technology.

Jimeng AI offers several key features:

  • Users can generate very short video clips (mostly under 5 seconds) from text prompts.

  • The app also allows for AI-generated image creation.

  • It adds basic animation to AI-generated characters and scenes.

  • While clearly AI-generated, the outputs are described as impressive and better than basic static images.

💡 While Jimeng AI is currently only available in China, this could lead to significant changes in how social media content is created and consumed, particularly if similar features are integrated into globally popular apps like TikTok.
